CRS REUNION 2014 Feb 9th

Year 2014 is another record breaking Cochranean Year

This year Cochraneans achieved another milestone. After a merger of several individual groups we formed the CRS Super Group to produce a record breaking attendance last night. There were all smiles around and exchanges of recollections as we walked down memory lane.

A BIG THANK YOU to Dr. Wu and spouse who generously offered their residence as the venue location. The poolside landscape was a perfect setting for the occasion - with breathtaking views in the backdrop for beautiful photo shots of various interesting moments.  It was also a “job well done” in every aspect of the function - carried out successfully. CONGRATULATIONS to Dr. Wu Chin Fong, Johnny Chow Chion and the Working Committee.

Also, there were many who had traveled from afar and some making special effort to take time off from their hectic schedule just to attend this event. Dato Dr. Tharmaseelan Sinnadorai (President of MMA), Lee Chee Meng (from Ipoh), Leong Chok Fong (from China) and Faizal Lim (from Seremban) to mention a few that I’m aware of – and I’m sure there are many others as well. To them, it’s a heartfelt THANK YOU from the Working Committee.

The flow of events started with the early arrival of the working committee and shortly after, the setting up of a registration station – manned by David Lim Long Hee, David Moysey and Danny Hew. It was heartening to witness the various surprised expressions on the faces of in-streaming attendees when they met someone they have been missing all these years. Without losing much time they quickly huddled in small groups to reminisce the “good old times” – it’s such a pleasing sight to watch the re-kindling and it gave me great satisfaction for the effort put in.

The evening started with an opening speech by Dr. Wu, followed by our former School Captain (three years consecutively) Lee Chee Meng who aptly provided a summation of our purpose at the gathering. Next, we thanked our former teachers individually for providing us with the essential tools to become model citizens we are today. We sealed this with the presentation of mementos to them - Mrs Arumainathan, Mr Rajendra, Mrs Yoon and lastly but not least Mr. Leslie Armstrong. We ALL salute you!

After a sumptuous meal, the evening went into overdrive mode with the rendition of  “To Sir With Love” – by Johnny Chow Chion (guitarist), Marvin Boey Chee Peng and Frankie Tan Eng Swee. This was the same band (except Marvin) I saw 40 years ago as a little boy – running bare-footed to Frankie Lye Fook Choon’s house to see the trio practicing. The sing-along session was certainly a highlight for me, and I’m sure for ALL.

Although this great event is past us now, nevertheless it offers us sweet memories to add to our memory bank. This is just the beginning as we await the next chapter.

TO ALL, I WISH YOU THE VERY BEST OF BEST AND DO MAKE THE BEST OUT OF LIFE BY TAKING CARE OF YOUR HEALTH.
